About Me

Welcome to my page! I am Jordan and I am a DONA trained postpartum doula, virtual birth doula, certified placenta specialist, certified childbirth educator, Mom2mom breastfeeding peer mentor, and prenatal to postnatal yoga instructor!

A question I get a lot is what made me get into the field of birth work? Here's my story! When I was in my middle school years, I considered becoming an OBGYN once I got older. I used to watch birth videos and it was always so cool and interesting to me, until I realized there's more with being an OBGYN than assisting with birthing babies. At the time I was grossed out by a lot of things, so I decided to go another route and as I got older I thought about going into the hair industry. Once I graduated high school, I went to Georgia State University for psychology, changed to business and graduated! While in school I learned about what a doula was and looked into it a little bit. A few years later, I met my husband, got married and became pregnant. We hired a doula to give support during labor and birth since we moved away from family. I felt like I could've gotten more support and a check in during postpartum, and that whole experience is what get me the boost to join the birth work community.

I was able to join a postpartum doula training with DONA and it was really a great informational class! I picked postpartum over birth because I didn't have much support from anyone after birth, so a goal of mine was to be able to help and inform other moms and families. My teacher also provided childbirth educator courses, so of course I enrolled in that course! I looked into placenta encapsulation and timed it right to travel home and attend a in person training with Best Doula Training. I eventually did peer mentor training with Mom2mom and I'm actively pursing lactation certification. Lastly, I enrolled in yoga instructor training for prenatal and postnatal. I would love to purse education in massage to offer comfort to moms as well!

I really do love and enjoy this field of work and I appreciate each family I get to work with!
