Female Pelvis and anatomy of a breast

Welcome to my page! I am Jordan and I am a certified DONA postpartum doula, birth doula, certified placenta specialist, certified childbirth educator, Mom2mom breastfeeding peer mentor, and prenatal to postnatal yoga instructor!

A question I get a lot is what made me get into the field of birth work? Here's my story! When I was in my middle school years, I considered becoming an OBGYN once I got older. I used to watch birth videos and it was always so cool and interesting to me, until I realized there's more with being an OBGYN than assisting with birthing babies.

At the time I was grossed out by a lot of things, so I decided to go another route and as I got older I thought about going into the hair industry. Once I graduated high school, I went to Georgia State University for psychology, changed to business and graduated! While in school I learned about what a doula was and looked into it a little bit.

A few years later, I met my husband, got married and became pregnant. We hired a doula to give support during labor and birth since we moved away from family. I felt like I could've gotten more support and a check in during postpartum, and that whole experience is what get me the boost to join the birth work community!

  • What areas do you serve?
I serve Jacksonville, North Carolina, and surrounding areas, and also offer virtual services!
  • What's the difference between a midwife and a doula?
A Midwife is who can perform your normal women's health check ups like pap smear and breast exams. They also take care of you during your prenatal period, delivery your baby, and give you your postnatal care and mental health referrals. A doula only provides, physical and emotional support and this can range from prenatal to postpartum. We don't deliver babies and we can NOT provide medical care but we will point you in the right direction.
  • Are you flexible with pricing?
Yes! My main goal is to provide care to those in need, so I am always open and willing to negotiate custom plans for your budget. Just reach out to us at happymomsdoulaservices@gmail.com, and we'll make it work!
  • What types of classes do you offer?
I offer classes on childbirth education, prenatal yoga, and postnatal yoga. These classes are available both in-person and virtually.
  • What are the benefits of placenta encapsulation?
Placenta encapsulation can help with milk supply, healing after birth, lowering the risk of postpartum mood disorders, and leveling iron levels after birth. Keepsakes are also available if you prefer not to ingest the placenta.
  • I don't like taking pills, can I get it in another form?
Yes! I also don't favor taking pills, so in this case I can either provide it just grinded up in powder and you add it to whatever you'd like. Another option is getting a tincture, which is taking droplets under the tongue.
  • What is the process of encapsulation?
The process is pretty cool overall! So firstly you secure a specialist, you will let your nurse and/or doctor know you will be keeping it for encapsulation. They'll have you sign a placenta release form that you're keeping it. Once its made it earth side, you'll let me know and I will come pick it up! Once I'm back home, I prep my area and get started. I inspect your placenta, cut out any pieces needed, wash if needed, steam if you'd like, cut/slice them into thin pieces, place in the dehyrator and let it go for between 18-24 hours. I grind it up once dried out and place into pill form! Guess what else is cool about this process? I share with you as well! I give picture updates so you can see what I'm doing!
  • Do you offer any additional support services?
Yes, I offer additional support services such as laundry services, grocery pick-up and delivery, birth and postpartum planning, and even date night or self-care sitting.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
I accept credit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, tap to pay, and card reader payments.
  • Can I request just certain services for Postpartum help?
Absolutely! If you just want certain things like laundry just laundry or weekly nursery organization and upkeep, that's fine with me! Whatever I can do to help. We can work on a certain plan for just what you need.
  • What virtual services do you offer?
I offer virtual doula support, virtual childbirth education classes, and virtual prenatal/postnatal yoga sessions.
  • When will you start doing in person labor support?
I am hoping to gain or find a friend to assist with being on call for watching my kids if my husband is working. We are a military family, so there's not much support but I always try my best to prep a family I work with for labor and birth.
